I was able
to complete the process with very little problem this morning. Only slow down was my failure to check spam box in email for the temp password for a while until I remembered reading about that on the web page. With my EA# and my EFIN all went through and assigned my old number.AJ, EA

Expiration of PTIN
Originally posted by Mike Mac View PostThe process is simple but still kind of a pain. About a half hour after I started and $64.25 poorer, I did end up with the same PTIN that I had before. At least I'm done with that part for another year.
Mine expires Oct 31, 2011. I guess I'm lucky that they did not issue my PTIN immediately or it would have expired in Sept. of 2011 instead of Oct.

Verification

It isn't easy dealing with the IRS. It's easier to prepare a tax return than to deal with them.

I tried to register last week, but never got the email with the password. Then today I retried and it said that log is was already used, so I said I forgot, and they said they were mailing me a new password, no e-mail yet, I seem to be stuck. Has anyone else had this problem? I gave them a password when I filled in my name, but it does not work.

Irs Ptin
As of today, the IRS won't accept my application because their program does not recognize my zip code! The help line is worthless and they hung up on me. The program still has many flaws. Someone should be held accountable for this but of course it is the Government so it is not accountable to anyone. If we ran a business this way, we would be in prison.
I was ready to file using a W-12 but a senior IRS agent said that was not the advisable way to file. They would rather have you try the computer which doesn't work.

Still no e-mail with password
I still have not received my e-mail with a password. It is not in my spam/crap folder either.
I have used 4 different e-mails with no success.
I have tried to reuse the e-mail, saying I forgot my password and I was told that one was one the way. Not there either and I checked my spam/crap folder again. Nothing.Jiggers, EA

Bulletin
For what it is worth NAEA, issued a Bulletin last week that suggested to allow the "Agency and its vendor" to iron out any kinks in the system. Maybe waiting another week or so for "them" to address some of the system's "undocumented features" as in "bug"
So with that I am on hold!
