My application is open, but when I entered my information it couldn't figure out my bill - or something like that - so I haven't paid and it just stays "open" each time I check. So, I guess that is where I am. I'm waiting now for a while.

I wonder why......

I wonder why some can get through with no problem, get their e-mail password, and everything runs smooth.
Other's can't even get in the system.
And why hasn't out national organizations (NATP, NAEA, etc.) and IRS TAO jumping all over the IRS to get this straightened out?Jiggers, EA

I filed my application and my credit card was charged on 9/29. When I checked my status it remained open and stated the fee could not be determined until just yesterday, I received confirmation and my same PTIN was re-issued.

I just want to issue my heartfelt appreciation to all those who are willing to serve as beta testers for the project. Those procrastinators & contrarians among us who tend to wait until things are running smoothly do appreciate your devoting your time & energy to the important task of helping IRS work out all the bugs in the sytem."The only function of economic forecasting is to make astrology look respectful" - John Kenneth Galbraith

Went online last week and except for my trying to put a P O Box in, along with the physical address, things went smoothly and I received the PTIN I have had for years.
LTOnly in government or politics is a "cut in spending" really an increase. It's just not as much of an increase as they wanted it to be, therefore a "cut".

Charges were not delayed
Originally posted by JG EA View PostNo, no payment, it apparently hadn't gotten to the end because of my entries - even though saying "Open". But, good news , I called today and a nice lady walked me through it and I got my original PTIN! A note to some as to how to enter CAF. Enter all the numbers after the first number, the R, then go back and enter the 1st number and it works.
Due to the lateness, it probably was close to a "same day" charge.
I am a bit miffed the "first" PTIN payment did not cover through, let's say, 12/31 instead of the stated 09/31....waiting a couple of days wait would have apparently given me another month.
And also the "fee" is (currently) only $50/year with the other stuff going to administrative costs.......

I submitted an application for a new registration today. I had no idea of my user name and password, and thought it'd be easier just to apply as a new registration. I received a confirmation of my payment, but nothing else. Since I had a previous PTIN, I hope that doesn't screw the process up to much. I don't even prepare returns any longer, but thought I should send the government some money to help with the deficit, and just in case...

Ptin
I cannot register with the PTIN even though I had a number for 32 years. The IRS says they cannot authenticate me so I can't get a PTIN.
They said not to bother filing the paper form as that won't help.
I guess they just want me to go out of business.
I called the 1-800-829-1040 to match the address on my return and it is perfect but the PTIN system will not recognize my zip code.
Can you believe this
