I worked in a fairly small CPA firm while qualifying and everyone, including bookkeepers prepared tax returns. They seemed to be dependent on the software. The partners reviewed the returns, but I couldn't see how they could give a real amount of time considering there were so many.

We staffers weren't allowed to communicate with the clients, perhaps because they wanted to give the impression that they were preparing the returns themselves. And they certainly did prepare a lot of returns, probably the more complicated ones.

I've always believed that, at any sized firm, staff prepared the returns and the CPA partners reviewed them and made any necessary corrections as a matter of course.

Many of my clients really like the fact that I have no employees. I try to make every client feels as though he or she is the most important client. Thought about opening an office and hiring employees...thought again...and decided to keep it small. I like working from home in my jammies
