Signing a 2553 with a POA
I'm an EA. Can I sign my clients 2553 ( Election by a Small Business Corp of S Corporation status) with my POA or do I need to have my client sign it. The S Corporation has only one shareholder.

I know that a general POA has to specifically state that it covers tax matters, does a court ordered Letter of Guardianship also have to have specific verbiage that it covers tax matters?

Nevermind, it looks like under state law a guardian is a type of POA for medical reasons so it doesn't speak to tax issues at all...Last edited by taxmandan; 04-03-2013, 02:46 PM.

Can an EA use IRS e-services to locate a POA - Form 2848 - that was previously submitted by the practitioner by fax or mail and subsequently validated by the IRS and entered into their computer system?
