Form 8453, does it really work for stocks, options

etc. even if you e-file the tax return and elected direct deposit? Will the refund be delayed?

Neither had delays with any refunds nor would consider nothing but a substitute D-1 with the 8453 when there are more than a half dozen transactions.

      Never a problem here, either

with enclosing trades in the form of a schedule D1 with the 8453. In fact this year there
is a block to check if I recall correctly.
just make sure the statement is in the same table format as the D1.

        Form 8453.....so I understand correctly

As long as the substitute document is formated like the Sch D-1 (like a spreadsheet) this document does NOT need to accompany the tax return but the document NEEDS to be in the file. Netted out ST gains/losses and LT gains/losses need to be entered into Sch D. Then the taxpayer can efile his tax return w/o refund delays if applicable?

Not sure if I understand your statement--but,the substitute document does have to be attached to the 8453 when you send it in. Form 8453 has to be sent in after you get
          the accepted for your EF.

Gene, so I think I understand..

Form 8453 regardless needs to be mailed in. It cannot be efiled with the tax return. Once the tax return is e-filed accepted, then mail in the form 8453 along with the substitute D1 document. Correct?
