    Stimulus rejects

    My software (atx) has a stimulus 1040A. When I put the actual amount of interest on the form with the soc sec or pension, it has been rejecting. Says I can't have that. I can efile a regular 1040 with the correct interest amount. I'd like to send in a correct form. Anyone else having this problem or know how to fix?

    2 Choices

    Get better software or just file the 1040.
    I would put a favorite quote in here, but it would get me banned from the board.

      of the stimulus return was to make it easy. therefore you only put one dollar of income somewhere
      on the page 1; no more, no less.

        A true stimulus return has SS only and no other income. If there is other income then there is no need for the stimulus return. It can go on a regular form.

          I put other income on the 1040A so it will flow to the MO property tax credit form and I don't have to do twice. So I can go ahead and just efile the 1040 and will accomplish the same purpose? Will the 1040 A efile with one dollar on line 7 and SS? If anything else is added it won't go??

            I read on the Drake board (I think it was) that for electronic filing to show "Stimulus Payment" for the bank and put in the amount of $1.00 as an interest amount. This will allow electronic filing.
            Only in government or politics is a "cut in spending" really an increase. It's just not as much of an increase as they wanted it to be, therefore a "cut".

              Veteran benefits which are tax exempt as disability income and in non-txed combat pay are also included as non-taxed income to be included for the stimulus return.

              From the front of IRS Package 1040A-3:

              "...qualifying income. Qualifying
              income is—

              ● Social security benefits (including social security disability payments);
              ● Certain railroad retirement benefits;
              ● Certain veterans’ benefits; and
              ● Nontaxable combat pay."

              Instruciton for line 14a:

              "Social security, tier 1 railroad retirement, and veterans compensation, disability and death
              benefits"
