Betrans I'll explain
Client bring's in last check stub year to date earnings and withholding. Check Stub lacks Employer Identitfication number. Wants to e-file. I need a database that I can have access to which would allow me to do a inquiry, by company name or phone number.
I have already reached former employer(s) and they will not cooperate. Their is EIN Finder but at $700.00 plus for six months, its to expensive.
Before someone brings to my attention that I need to produce substitute W-2 form. I got it.
I am only asking for advise on EIN database program. Thank very much.

Maybe you should call the fraud division of IRS and tell them this company won't give EIN to employee and see what they suggest you do.

Or maybe employer had the W2 available for pickup, but taxpayer thought they ought to mail it,
(which they are not required to do!) and balked.
Would be interesting for Kong to tell us.ChEAr$,

Never heard of such, and the IRS will NOT share that information. They will confirm a number is valid, and confirm if you have the company name, but you can't call up and ask who the number belongs to.
