    Graham-Leach-Bliley Privacy Letter w/returns

Certainly not an urgent tax season question, but is there anyone not sending out the above letter with their prepared income tax returns? More of an FTC thing, than IRS. Just wondering.

We have a stack of our privacy policy on the front counter and offer them when clients first come into the office. Actually, I think you are supposed to give them before your prepare the return. They are also included with our annual letter.

My software generates a letter and we include it with the clients copy of the return.

That is what I understood. CPAs no longer have to send out the notice.

            Privacy Notice

I have the statement regarding this in my annual letter, every year!

And my engagement letter has the basics in a paragraph that the client signs.

And I put my version on an orange sheet of paper in from of the taxpayer copy of the return.

That covers just about all bases.

I usually forget to do this, but do have a notice that I use more of a reminder to some clients
with friends whose returns I also do. Usualy I'll say something like "I have to give you this
notice once a year, but I'm sure you know that I won't talk about you when you're gone.!"
