    Former? ATX User

I used ATX for the last 8 years as ATX sure did fit the bill in many ways for us small practitioners, pricewise, features and the informative message boards. Since the message board avenue has closed down, I think we small practioners need to keep each other informed as we venture into the off season in search of what direction we will now proceed, software wise. Many of us share in the same concerns, as to price, functionability, ease of use and support availability. We will soon be bombarded with offers from competitors, and will appreciate feedback from collegues who may have experience/ opinions on some of these products. I used to toss many of these solicitations, but I will now start to evaluate some of them. I hope we all will continue to help each other out when possible.

You don't need ATX's message board to discuss tax software issues with other ATX users. This message board is open to all tax issues, including tax software issues. Since TheTaxBook does not sell tax prep software, there is no conflict of interest discussing software products sold by other companies.

We also have the best tax minds in the business participating on this board. So feel free to tell your ATX friends to come on over and make yourself at home. We are glad to have everyone.

That's not something to joke about. All tax professionals are welcome to this board. That is my understanding. Will be posting more on this topic after tax season. At least for now be polite and kind to one another.

On the ATX board, Eli was notoriously polite. His nasty comment on this board is a complete reversal of his normal behavior. On the ATX board I have sometimes answered his questions and he has always thanked me for my help. He must have been having an off day since I don't think his comment is at all representative of his true character.

you or anyone else. This was truly only a joke! As you say I am usually polite and don't mean to be any different here. I always appreciate yours and anyone else's assistance when I require it. Again I apologize if I offeneded you, and promise not to joke on here anymore :-)

I thought the "offensive" post was funny.

And we certainly don't have a rule against joking here. Is there any formal guidance on what is or is not acceptable humor? Maybe after tax season we could have a serious thread relative to humor. I'm not aware of having offended anyone here with humor but I have in other places caused offense with my humor.

                            First year

This is my first year with ATX and I've loved it. Much better than ProSeries in my opinion.

I'm really upset about the potential for $5 per e-file (federal and state) as that is a MAJOR price upgrade when you really consider thing. It will basically force me to the Office suite and still cost about twice what I paid last year. That's very unfortunate. I may have to seriously consider changing programs YET again.

I was not offended, just puzzled. It didn't come across as a joke, but if we had been talking in person, the tone of your voice probably would have made it clear that it was a joke.

I don't think you should refrain from making humorous remarks. I make wisecracks and attempts at humor all the time, and may sometimes come across as being offensive if I don't make it clear when I attempt humor.
