    Form 8283 and efile

When I file a tax return with Form 8283, can the pin be used or will I have to send in Form 8453 with Form 8283 attached. Things are a little fussy right now.

I will assume that since you have not mentioned having appraisals or 1098-Cs, you are referring to normal non-cash donations that go on Section A part 1. In that case you can use the pin and file form 8879.

That's all I have to say ... for now.

The short answer is "it depends". What section of the form are you filling out? For those returns that I just fill out Section A, Part I and no appraisals are required, I use F8879 with Practitioner Pin. But my understanding is that part(s) of this form require appraisal & signatures -- that I believe required Form 8453.

In addition to the above, if you donated a car with a FMV of over $500 and have the 1098-C to prove it, you must also use the 8453 to send in the 1098-C.
