    W-2

I have a client who was professor at the University of Miami. She gave me a W-2 today that I have never seen before. Top of the form looks like the ones we all see and has all the Fed info. It then says, "University of Miami 2006 W-2 Wage and Tax Statement". The bottom part has no space for state information, only these descriptions:

    Box C: Employer name (U of M)
    Box D: Check Distribution (empty)
Box E: Job (this has a code "B" in it)
    Box F &G: Employee's info

Can one of you great Floridians explain this to me, especially box E?

    Thank you,

    Dennis

    Dennis..............

....................... FL has no State Tax. I would assume those boxes have nothing to do with the tax return and is some kind of internal control for the university....???

I know FL has no state tax. The info I was referring to was in that section of the W-2 where the state tax would show up.

I was just curious about this, as I have never seen such a weird looking W-2 before. Also, I think I'll call the university next week and see if they can shed some light on this???

To change the subject, how's your tax season going? Fine I hope!

      Thanks,

      Dennis

        Dennis..............

............. reasonably well.. February was very busy did about 250 returns. March was slower but 125 so far. I have 35 returns in house that need to be completed. The phone is still ringing, so we'll see where that goes. I like to cut off appointments March 31st. I'm still deciding if I will take any more appointments...????
