    SEHI for Rent

If a taxpayer has substantial rental income (such as classified as a business for QBI), can he deduct self-employed health insurance as an adjustment??

Let's see, I wonder if the IRS has instructions that discuss this.

One of the following statements must be true.

    • You were self-employed and had a net profit for the year reported on Schedule C or F.
    • You were a partner with net earnings from self-employment.
    • You used one of the optional methods to figure your net earnings from self-employment on Schedule SE.
    • You received wages in 2021 from an S corporation in which you were a more-than-2% shareholder. Health in-surance premiums paid or reimbursed by the S corporation are shown as wages on Form W-2.
Whether or not a taxpayer with "substantial rental income" satisfies any of the 4 conditions is left as an exercise for the reader.

      Straightforward enough. Thanks.
