    Can a client receive Unemployment Compensation from a state in which he formerly resided? Client has lived in Ohio for three (3) years but has receive over $20000 both in 2020 and 2021 from California.

    He should have converted it from CA to Ohio. Thats what I had to do in reverse

      Never heard of this type of conversion?

      Generally the state where the employee last worked and derived wages pays UI based on that state's laws regardless of the state of residence of the taxpayer.

      So if this taxpayer was receiving wages from CA (regardless of his state of residence) that generated the UI.

        apologies, I had to register in the new state and follow their job search requirements but I was still getting paid by the other state. I was thinking the money came trough the new state but it didn't.
