Spouse retired but has self employed taxpayer's health insurance deducted from her monthly retirement check. Is this self employed health insurance or because it is thru her former employer not deductible? Hers is entirely paid by state, but his is deducted every month. ERS

If Hers is entirely paid by state, hers gets a deduction? Is Hers is entirely paid by state mean like one of the 50 US states or is state a company?

Same here. I could not decipher what the poster was trying to describe. It did not make sense. "Self-employed health insurance" is not deducted from a retirement check. If she pays after tax for HIS health coverage through her former employer, then it is deductible on Sche A.Last edited by Burke; 02-23-2016, 01:51 PM.
