    This is simpler:

    Scammers are continuing to target tax professionals (remember it from before?). This morning, I received three of these rather authentic warnings ostensibly from the AICPA: The text (in case you can't make it out) says: Cancellation of Public Account Status due to income tax fraud allegations Valued accountant officer, We have received a [...]


    Of course, the fact that I received an email regarding an account from an organization with which I have no business association might be a potential red flag.

      Actually the syntax in the message is a dead giveaway to it's bogus status.

      Nobody, but NObody at AICPA would draft a message in that fashion.

        Besides, Only my state board can grant or revoke.

          I'm thinking anyone who would be taken in by this sort of email probably shouldn't be preparing taxes in the first place. If they're that gullible, there's no telling what some of their more crafty clients might be getting away with.
