    Form W-3

Does Form W-3 have to be printed in red-line forms?

Oh Burke, I forgot to ask...what about the Copy A of W-2 that needed to be sent to the Social Security Administration? Does it have to be in red?

Nope. Only the 1096 and 1099 forms have to be in red. SSA will accept the black and white.

        Do not staple or fold.

          Software

If the software that you are using is "approved" for substitute forms - you are good to print on plain paper - black and white - both the W-3 and W-2 forms for SSA.

Unfortunately without efile transmission, we are still on the "dreaded RED forms" for 1096 and 1099 forms.
