    Best Thing About November 1

The best thing about November 1 is clearance candy.

The second best thing is that my client, who called on 10/13 to ask if I was working Saturday 10/15, just called to say he was ALMOST ready to bring in his stuff for the 2010 return...
If you loan someone $20 and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

If you live in Lower Hudson Valley

If you live in the Lower Hudson Valley of New York - you've got another
2 weeks extension to file your NYS tax return for 2010.

In addition to the extensions granted from Hurricane Irene - the LHV
got hit on October 29th with a powerful snowstorm that paralyzed
the whole area with lack of utility and telephone service.
So Governor Cuomo granted another 2 week extension till 11/16.

Wonder what will happen if we have a blizzard and power outage then?

        Total bust

I went at the wrong time; it was like Black Friday or something. Guess I will continue with the diet.

          Rita, no need to diet.
Candy isnt the problem - shampoo is the culprit.

I recently discovered I could lose weight by just not using shampoo to wash my hair.
I sure wish it hadn't taken me 64 years to figure this out.

If you don't believe me, just look at your shampoo bottle.
It's printed right on the front in big letters - "INCREASES VOLUME, ADDS EXTRA BODY"

Why did it take us so long to figure it out?
I think Dr Oz needs to do a special show on this.

                Ct

CT as well as NY postponed deadlines again to 15 November 2010.

And, my town and many around postponed Halloween to Saturday 5 November, so I don't expect candy sales until Sunday 6 November.

                  Thinking About You

Lion, Thinking about you with the NE snowstorm - so good for you another delay in filing.
Hope all is well with you and no power outages.

                    No Power

Power went out about 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon. Stuck it out until Sunday afternoon with pipes near freezing. Drained pipes and found a B&B about an hour away. When we got up Monday, it was 19 degrees in Weston. Returned Tuesday; was up to 51 degrees in the house. Finally got power back this morning, but not water. Had a contractor in this afternoon to get water flowing into the house. Schools out until next Monday. I leave very early Saturday morning to attend the CCH user conference for a week of tax classes in San Antonio. So, my final three clients that never called may be very angry if they call now. I haven't heard if CT received federal disaster area designation or if IRS has granted any further delays. This tax season will never end. I'm tired and waaay behind in laundry. Have to print out all my texts to take to TX.

Get a generator, and an electrician to install a switch panel. That's what we did after the first extended outage we had, and have never regretted it. On the other hand, we didn't always keep the generator in tune, and we have regretted that.

The generator doesn't have to power the entire house, but don't skimp either. Just the heating system, central air if you have it, well pump if you have that, likewise sump pump, refrigerator, microwave, and a few outlets. I think we have just eight circuits in the secondary panel, and our next generator will be 8K; the 5K can't handle the peaks.

                            What Mfg

                            Gary
Interested in this even we have not experienced much in the way of power outages in NC about 30 SE of Raleigh NC - but we did have one and Irene was toooooo close for us.

What Mfg and specs did you install?

                              Generator

Yes, I've been wanting one since I moved into a home office. After Irene, have my husband on board. Got three recommendations from friends satisfied with their generators and was going to contact those electricians when I finally finish tax season/year to get it all installed by the beginning of tax season. Who would've thought we'd need it so soon after Irene! So, it's on my husband's list to call for bids while I'm away next week.
