    They haven't made a specific request to my knowledge but since I'm signing the return based on my knowledge it is complete and correct I feel it's implied that I ask. I can see the state having a ton of leverage on taxpayers as they go to collect since the taxpayer signs under penalty of perjury. Once the IRS distills all the data from the credit card companies and passes it down to the states the fun will start.

    Nebraska sent out bills to people who had bought cigarettes on-line since that information was required to be shared after the big tobacco settlement a few years back.

      Due diligence would require the question be asked whether it's a box or a line item.
