I had to sign one of my very last payroll clients up for EFPTS to meet the new payroll deposit requirements, "a real diehard" thinking that everything is a scam and government control trying to get a hold of his checking account.
At any rate, we signed up in late December, and didn't receive PIN # to sign on for the Jan 15 payroll deposit, I had him make a phone deposit. Still nothing from EFTPS, so had him call again to make phone payment - now EFTPS doesn't even like those. In searching the account EFTPS has an address that is over 4 years old - the Chg of Address form has been filed with IRS - but EFTPS doesn't believe us, and refuses to give out PIN# on the phone or resend the PIN# to the updated address.
EFTPS says we have to initiate another form 8822 with IRS to change the address and this can take up to 6 weeks, and EFTPS will not accept another phone payment (so it was told to the Taxpayer).
I am having Taxpayer sign POA for the payroll tax returns and can process through E-services - does anyone know if that POA is good for EFTPS?
Does any one know a faster way to change and correct the Taxpayers address on the account, so we can receive the PIN# for EFTPS in time for the 3/15 payroll deposit deadline?
Of course I am to blame, as I am NOT doing my job as his quote/unquote Professional
Thanks,
Sandy
