    Must use Internet Explorer

My home computer is a Mac so I filled out the application online and submitted it but never received the payment option screen. I called Customer Service at pay.gov and they said you must be using Internet Explorer (the "preferred browser of IRS") and I was using Firefox as a browser. I was able to use IE on another computer and it went through perfectly and I have an e-mailed confirmation.

          Welcome any Advances

The mere fact that we could submit our request for PTIN and now the 8554 renewal and pay online is an accomplishment that I welcome! IRS is advancing into the more modern stream of technology,

so I believe, we should be thankful

I noticed no problem last night when I renewed using Firefox 4.0. And my payment already shows up on my credit card account.

My bank web site gives me a warning that my browser isn't supported - and suggests that I upgrade to Firefox 3.x.

              Firefox

I used Firefox for many years but returned to IE with my new computers in January. When I used Firefox, it had an IE tab that I could use for any website that need it.

According to email from NAEA yesterday, the EA renewal and application rate is $30. Those who have already done this might confirm this figure.

I think the letter said up to 90 days. I did mine online a couple of weeks ago so we shall see.
