    HSA reimbursement

Employer has HDHP covering only medical and perscription drugs (no dental or visison). Employer makes a contribution to employee's HSA and employee also makes a pre-tax contribution from his pay check to his HSA.

The dental and vision expenses would not be qualifying expenses for meeting the plan's deductible and out-of-pocket coinsurance maximums, but can the employee still reimburse himself for dental and vision expenses out of his HSA even though such expenses are not covered in the HDHP ?

The employer is NOT offering a limited cafeteria plan for dental and vision.

Once funds are contributed to an HSA, they can be used to pay for any qualified medical expense (except for health insurance premiums). Dental and vision expenses are generally considered qualified medical expenses, regardless of whether or not they are covered under a health insurance policy.
