One poster previously told us IRS scheduled a compliance inspection of their office during tax season, but I never heard the result. Also, somebody running a tax office out of a liquor store (good location for it -- break the bad news, then sell 'em a bottle of booze to soften the blow) said they were notified they'd be "visited," but I didn't see anything else on that one either.
I got an IRS letter in January titled Prepare Accurate Individual Income Tax Returns (I assume we all got it) which stated "IRS representatives will visit many of the preparers who receive this letter to discuss their obligations as a return preparer." I'm sort of thinking that that the effort to make us straighten up and fly right consisted of maybe 99% letters and 1% visits.
Anyway, I'm curious about the number of visits. Could we get a show of hands on this?
P.S. If they did come see you; would you kindly furnish details? Thanx.
