I'm using XP that has all the service packs. Also, I do the Windows updates around once a week, so I think I'm good there.

Glad you suggested a Google search. I was going to do that if the earlier suggestions did not help. I have found answers in the past by doing just that.

    Thanks.

      Deleted AR

Well, I removed all versions of AR and there is still Acrobat 9 in Program Files. I did not do a reinstall of 9.3.2 because I can access everything currently with no problem. Also, I removed Adobe AIR that was installed the other day. Not sure what that was, but doesn't seem to matter if it's in there or not.

Seems a bit strange to me that I did not have to reinstall Reader. Does Acrobat have Reader in it and that is the reason I don't have to reinstall it?

      Sorry to be so tech-challenged!

Adobe recommends that there not be different versions of the same product on your system. This stems from the way in which Adobe has made certain functions (Dynamic Link Libraries) as shared resources to other system program like the web browser. Keeping older versions can cause links to the wrong version of the necessary resource files.

Reader is no longer listed as part of Acrobat, but listed as Adobe Reader.

AIR is a common scripting resource for Adobe products.

It is a good practice to update Reader and Acrobat to newer minor versions, as these updates plug some security leaks or issues. Many of these issues you might not ever see, but if one of these problems raised it head, you might be surprised at what information could be extracted from your system. Some of these issues are a result of weaknessed with your systems operating system.

Thank you for the information on this. I am clueless to most of this and am glad you mentioned the importance of updating these two products. In the past, I've always been given a reminder that there is an update to either one and I've updated them whenever it comes up and will continue to do so.

Am I correct in assuming that since I have complete access like I did before and no warnings popping up that there is a version of Reader somewhere on this computer? It's not listed that I can see, but has to be somewhere.
