Disabled client got two code "1" 1099-Rs instead of correct "3," asked brokerage to change it, and got the familiar "Drop dead. We did it right, you gave us wrong information. We aren't changing it!"
Okay, I can live with that -- I made up a 5329 and killed the penalty. Now, however, I'd like to send in her IRS disability award letter to back it up and ward off future IRS attacks. I'd tack it on a paper return, but she's got a big refund -- needs it EF/DD jiffy-quick. I thought I could mail in an 8453 after acceptance, but it apparently restricts what can be sent to such useful items as a Statement of Biodiesel Reseller, Historic Preservation Certification, International Boycott Report, etc., etc.
Okay, I'm a tad biased -- there are some useful things on it (8332 for example), but still...the instructions say "Do not attach any form or document that is not shown on Form 8453 next to the checkboxes."
So...is there any EF way/form to send "feel-comfortable information" that I want on record to avoid future IRS nosing around? I know they don't care if we stress-out or not, but I do.
