in the Federal schedule A with the Oregon return.
By the way--which state is "the old north state"Comment

If the amendment
only pertains to an error on the 1040 wouldn't that be all that's necessary to send in?
ie: If interest was wrong, then include a sch B w/1040X or other schedule to substantiate error correction.Comment

More on amends
Many (most?) states require a copy of the federal Form 1040X to be attached to any related state amended return. And if something like multiple changes on a federal Sch A cannot be easily explained, I also attach the new Schedule A to the Form 1040X.
It would seem to me a "copy" of the Form 1040X would therefore include any related supporting forms on the amended state return.....but perhaps not.

I talked to a lady in the Taxpayer Advocate office on Friday and she didn't know anything about a new 1040X.
I haven't seen a copy of it either.

Draft
Linda
You can go to this link to see the draft copy http://www.banks.com/tax/wp-content/...1040x--dft.pdf not sure what changes they have made since August 09 - irs.gov still has the old 1040x form.
My tax software has a preliminary version, but won't be released until 2/1/2010.

Thanks
Thanks Sandy. I am glad to see what it looks like. It seems like it will be much easier. Our backup work will be important for us. But the form looks less complicated.
