    End of season party?

Who's planning an end of the filing season party? The CPA I used to work under would hand out cash for taking your spouse out to eat after we filed the last extensions and locked the door on April 15th. Sometimes we'd get pizza or goodies instead, but usually it was cash for dinner out away from the office with your neglected loved one.

Now that I am self-employed I am thinking of taking my wife out to continue the tradition, but was curious how everyone else is going to blow-off steam this evening. So speak up - will it be dinner out, dinner in, a movie, an exhausted crash on the waiting room couch?

    Red Lobster

My wife and I are headed to Red Lobster on Saturday to celebrate the end of tax season and her birthday. This has become our annual tradition since I started my business. We're really looking forward to it.

The streets shall be littered with calculator tape and pocket protecters. The accountants shall be running wild all the way up until 10PM.

Then we have to go home to watch Lou Dobbs.

Only three postal facilities in the greater Kansas City area will be open past 5 pm. Two of will close at 7:30 pm - other one opened till midnight. The IRS really does check the postmark date.

Planning to take my wife to Trio, a local restaurant we really like. The trip to Trio has become a sort of mini-tradition every Apr 15.

All 74 of my extensions were filed by yesterday (took care of one straggler today), so around 5:30 I'm heading home after I finish a couple of payroll reports.

Hope everyone had a profitable, productive tax season and encouraging those of you who are exahusted to get some well-earned rest.

I always took my staff and their spouses out to a good steak dinner, we were loud and had lots of fun. I closed my office as of last year, and I am doing tax returns at home this year,so is the lady I worked with for 18 years. So this year we decided we still needed to celebrate, so we are going dutch treat. Looking forward to a good time.

                husband is grilling

Well, I am still at my desk. That is because I had to take off this morning and go to my massage therapist. I could not walk any more. My right hip and leg were paralyzed. I am not healed but better.

I had gotten some steak at Walmart Saturday ngiht so he is grilling tonight. I have one more client coming at 6 to sign for electronic filing and pick up return.

But I have one big problem I need to fix yet. It will be in the next thread. So please help me.

But everyone enjoy your evening. I am trying to figure out how I can get to the beach in the next few days to sit and listen to my ocean.

Have a couple cold beers waiting in the fridge till closing time. About 100 extensions filed so this was a busy final day.

                    I AM going crazy.

I already posted my question last night. I was about to post it again and looked down the page and saw it there.

I am 20 shades of red now.

BBQ and Beam is hard to beat (unless you can afford Jack Black).

                          Filing Extension

I'll be e-filing extensions until midnight, probably, and then collapse for some long missed sleep. But, tomorrow we go away through Sunday, just a few miles down the road to a beach town. Husband's a school teacher and often his spring break matches with the end of tax season. He's also a church music director but now has a parishioner keyboard player learning the organ who's available to sub this Sunday, so we can stay away an extra night. I want to sit on our balcony with some wine and watch the sun set and sleep all morning and hit our favorite book store for LIGHT reading and NON-tax topics and spend time with my husband. Working from home has meant that I spend time chasing him away; he probably feels more rejected than when I worked at Block and just wasn't around. Then it's back to work on Monday with extensions and neglected bookkeeping clients and waiting laundry and.... Enjoy the off-season, everyone! Or yeah, and they're tearing down our beach hotel after the season and building some luxury place we'll never be able to afford. Gotta find a new place for next Tax Day's vacation.
