    1099R, not taxable?

just got client with a 1099R from union: gross dist 902 box 1 , nothing in box 2. but in box 5 $902, i'm assuming insurance premiums or employee contributions. code 7 normal dist. does this mean it is not taxable? thanks for any input

I agree with your assumptions, either a return of their contributions or insurance premiums that will not be taxed.

Never assume...is the taxable amount not determined checked? If not and you are not sure have the client get an answer from the issuer. taxea
