Has anyone prepared a UK tax return for a US citizen working there? If so, how does the tax rate compare to the US?

I have not had the above experience.

Whenever I have found myself in this kind of situation, I have contacted some friends in the UK to see who they have used to prepare a return there. Often times spouses of military members there will work "on the economy" and require some tax preparation services.

Also, I know that HRB does a lot of this work in London. It might be possible to get some information from them.

Finally,for what it's worth -- I know, not much -- I have always heard that the UK has high taxes [cost of socialized medicine, and who knows what else].

Zee, on the TaxAlamac board there are several people who have foreign experience, including at least one from the UK, who post fairly often.
