1040X for demutualization

    1040X for demutualization

    Since the Court ruled in favor of Fisher, do we have to note on the 1040X that this is a protective extension. I understand the IRS is not going to give the refund before they appeal. I just want to know the proper way to file at this point.

    Yes, on top of 1040X put "Protective Claim-Do Not Process."
