can anyone else help with the dog breeding info? pups as inventory? So if they die what are they worth at birth? they cant be sold until they are 8 weeks

For breeding dogs, you put all direct costs in inventory, such as dog food, vet shots, and other direct supplies used to raise the dogs. You then calculate COGS by dividing total costs into the number of puppies on hand at the beginning of the year plus the number born. Once you determine the cost of each puppy, you subtract from the total cost the number of puppies left on hand at the end of the year multiplied by the cost per puppy to determine COGS. Any puppies that died would then be accounted for in COGS since the cost of those puppies would not show up in ending inventory.
