Is there clear direction on this issue?

Must we use Form 8453 instead of the PIN? Must we attach both a signed Form 8283 and the donors acnowledgement?

Or do we need to file on paper?

I way I understand it, you send in Form 8453 with 1098-C attached. You don't need to attach Form 8283.

What do we have to do when there is a Form 8283 for auto more than $1,000 and we e-file the return? Do we have to send in an 8453 with documentation. We only have a letter - no Form 1098-C. Made contribution 12/05 so they probably have not sold the vehicle yet.

A month and a half of experience later ............................ is there concensus on whether the 1098C or 8283 is required or both?

All I know is.....

....I have had only 1 auto donation this year. Last year I had a bunch of them.
