    Any MA preparers out there?

Just interested in your take on the repeal the income tax issue (Question #1)

Here is a link to the WSJ article.
In other words, a democratic government is the only one in which those who vote for a tax can escape the obligation to pay it.

This is something voters in other states should really consider - especially here in California.

      It won't happen

Even if the electorate votes to abolish the income tax the legislators will scuttle it. This happened to a referendum question a couple o fyears ago and also during the gay marriage debate.

        Good luck with that here!

Year after year, voters can't wait to vote in these clowns who think nothing of spending our money and now, another budget impasse. Proposal? A one-cent or more raise in the sales tax, "teachers and Republicans" (note the word Republicans) on TV urging us to vote for "more revenue" (note the word tax is not used) to the State, which would help our "children".

Oh please, makes me want to puke! (Do we have a gagging smiley face we can insert?)

          My take

I would not like to see income taxes abolished at the Federal or State level and I would like to see property taxes at the state and local level replaced. But then I don't think that income other than from wagering, employment, self employment, and tax advantaged savings accounts or pensions should be taxed, Put another way, income from one's investment of taxed dollars other than investment in wagering activities should not be taxed and property taxes of all sorts should be thrown out. I guess this is another way in which I am very peculiar.

Our governments rake in enough of our money, regardless of who or where it comes from. The main problem is that no one makes our reps balance a budget like we all have to do. I won't live above my means. Neither should government.

Until we have reps that are responsible with everything we entrust them with, I believe the less money we give them, all within reason, the better off we'll all be and we won't be having this conversation much in the future.

We need to hold their little feet to the fire. If only we had the guts to do that!

If the schools in Ca would get rid of the excess overhead, read administrators, maybe our kids could get a real education. In the county I live in, we have 25 or 26 individual school districts - total county population is probably 170 - 180k and the constant complaint, no money to teach.
