    Data Input Sheets

Is anyone out there using Lacerte or Creative Solutions/UltraTax? Do they have a data sheet input so that a non tax professional can input into the tax program directly from the data sheet that has been prepared by a tax professional? Thank you. Kurly

I had a webinar some months ago with Ultra Tax and they do have module that will allow you to have your non-tax preparer employee enter this data for you. Very easy for them, as the entry fields look like the document, W-2, 1099, etc. You can then access it later for a check on your end.

Lacerte does have input sheets with codes/amounts/descriptions. They date back to when that was the only method of data entry. These days, a tax pro would use the Interactive method of data entry, or use the Batch method using input sheets for the non-tax data entry person.

        ProSystem fx, too

I know you didn't ask about ProSystem fx, but it has a worksheet mode as well as an interview mode. And, even in the interview mode, you can input into screens that match government documents such as W-2, 1099-INT, K-1 partnership, and a dozen or more others. Although, it's just a toggle back to worksheet mode, so that's probably where you'd want a non-preparer doing data entry.
