My accountant is a flake... please help!

    Hi Everyone,

I just started a corporation this past January. It is a small business with low profits and little expenses. I am the sole owner (no shareholders), and I am the only employee.

I have had an accountant for the past 7 months. He has been extremely unreliable and hard to reach. He completely forgot to file my first quarter and I am having issues with getting my second quarter. I finally went into the office and asked for my 2nd quarter. He had me wait there for 5 minutes while he quickly slapped it together (charging me $90 for his 5 minutes).

My question is... do I need an accountant? I do all of my book keeping and it's a VERY small low profit business. Not a lot of expenses either. I make out the same amount toward payroll each month. So it is a repetitive process.

If I can do this myself, can someone please explain to me the process. Which forms I need and any deadlines throughout the year? My business is based in Florida. I would be truly grateful considering I am so frustrated with this whole thing.

    Thank you in advance.

If you need to ask, obviously you cannot do it yourself...unless someone teaches you, or you teach yourself how to do it.

This message board is for those who purchase the products from the sponsors of this message board. There is a chapter in TheTaxBook that explains how to handle payroll. Buy the book, or hire another accountant to do it for you. Members on this message board have been asked by the board sponsors not to answer questions from do-it-yourselfers.
