Just received newsletter from NATP:
"In mid-June, 250,000 CP-259 notices were issued erroneously due to a programming error. The notices were sent to taxpayers with the intent to request a delinquent tax return for Forms 1120, 1065, 1041. Instead, the notices requested taxpayers to submit Forms 2758, 7004, or 709-A. Beginning the week of July 7, 2008, the IRS began issuing apology letters to the taxpayers affected by the erroneous notices."
I posted awhile back asking why a Partnership would be requested to file Form 2758 ........now I know.
Just out of curiosity, I have had two clients that had to send in Form 1065 a second time and one extension that IRS claimed was not received, have any of you experienced client issues w/ mailings not being received?
