Because taxpayer's children are getting social security and small workers comp checks because father is deceased looks like they fail the support test and won't qualify for dependecy exemption for mother. Ages are 10 and 12. It seem they should qualify for the stimulus payment of $300 each. What say you.

I have a similar situation, two surviving children getting about 12k in SS and they have trust fund income as well, not enough to be required to file, but too much to be claimed by the parents.
The IRS told her she should claim the children, but I have told her that there is no way I can prepare the return that way. With the income of the parents, there is no way that they could have provided more than half support.
In this case, the children's mother is remarried and there are two other children that are dependents that are used for EIC purpose.
I think I should file the children each a return and let them get a $300 stimulus check.

JG, thanks but yeah I am. If you knew the details of the income, you would agree. There are 6 people in the house so these 2 kids only get 1/6th of the household expense each.
There is just no way they could have paid over 1/2 and she even admitted that she has to use the kids SS money to help with the bills.
