    Does Amended Return Works

    Hello,

    My client has applied $8,000 to the 2008 federal tax estimate when we prepared her 2007 form 1040. However, right after that she is seriously ill and won't be able to work anymore, she would have a big net loss in 2008. Now she need the $8,000. Can we file an amended return and get the money back.

    Thanks for any advice.

    No, once its applied, you can't get it back until you file 2008.

      If she has a really, really serious medical condition, I would contact the TAO and see if they can help get the money returned. Never done it, but can't hurt to try them for assistance.
