    Earned income for Roth

I have a client who opened a Roth in 2007 and contributed $5000. She receives retirement pay (1099-R) that is coded "C" (disability). The software put this income on Line 7 as wages because she is not of retirement age. Is this treated as earned income for a Roth contribution or not?

Even if the money is reported on line 7, it is still not earned income for the Roth contribution. IMHO

In this case simply being on line 7 is not enough.

Thanks. I knew it was reported as wages for some reason, but I didn't think it qualified you for Roth contributions. Just wanting a second opinion as my brain is very tired.
