    529 savings plan

    regarding the 529 savings plan, are the dividends earned during the year to be reported by the child?

      Earnings in ESA and QTP accounts (529 plans) grow tax free, so the dividends are not reported by anyone.

          That is if the account owner elected to have the dividends reinvested , which I think most plans require.
