The mother of a friend filed a tax return and would have received a stimulus payment had she not died. I do not know how much she would have received or whether she had a filing requirement. Will a check be mailed to her and if so will her heirs be able to negotiate it?

I called the PPL today
and was told that the same payment will be sent that would have been sent had she lived. The representative said that if there is a formal estate the executor will be able to deposit the check in an account that belongs to the estate or that once belonged to the client. If there is no court recognized estate then the next of kin may file F 1310 to explain why a check should be reissued in their name.
