    Veteran's pension

How would one determine how much of a military disability/retirement pension may be excluded? Taxpayer was injured during desert storm. Received 1099R.

I understand the VA disability payments received are not taxable.

are based on VA determinations and the percentage not taxable already taken into consideration on the retired service member's 1099R.

Sometimes however VA makes a subsequent redetermination and issues appropriate
documentation which may be used in case the 1099R was issued without having
    the adjustment taken into consideration.

You have just got to dig deeper.

      Thanks

I find this somewhat mystifying. I have very little experience with military.
