    Household Employee Problem

I sent in a W-2 for a client whose only household employee was paid $1420. I assumed the FICA and Medicare taxes would be paid on my clients Schedule H, but the limit seems to be $1500 and this is the first time we are under that. The form will not generate on Lacerte unless I check the over $1500 box. I now understand my client doesn't have to pay FICA and Medicare, but we already issued the W-2 back in Jan. My client is a govt employee and would still want to issue the W-2 and pay the SS taxes, even if the wages are under the $1500. I'm thinking of checking the $1500 box and generating the taxes on the $1420 anyway. Any thought are appreciated. Do I gotta pay a different way?

    The net pay was

$1420? It should be more to gross up for fica. Which would put it at $1520 gross wages.

      Gross was $1420

Thanks for the reply. The gross pay was $1420. My client wants to pay both sides of FICA and Medicare for her on that gross. $1420 is already on the W-2 in Box 1. Hmmmmm..
