    Tax rebate for deceased taxpayer

taxpayer had more than $3,000 of social security benefits in 2007. So he is eligible for $300 of tax rebate. But he died earlier this year (in 2008). Is he still eligible for the tax rebate now? If yes, who is going to sign his tax return which is required for the rebate? Thank you.

    Yes.

The same person who would sign the return if the deceased taxpayer had AGI of $96,344.00, estimated payments and withholding, and a refund of $6634.00.
