AZ Help please - adjustment to income

Client is a FT AZ resident. Received a CA W-2 for some stock options she exercised. On the CA Sch CA-NR show only that amount for Calif. income. However, the AZ return is also taxing that amount. (Double taxation?) How/where would I back that amount out of the AZ return? I use ProSeries Professional. Thanks for your help.

    AZ form 309

Taxes paid to another state are reported on Arizona form 309. Can't help you with the mechanics because I'm not ProSeries users. Hope that helps.

Thank you. I tried to use that form and it sent me back to the CA return to make an adjustment for double-taxed income. I did finally figure it out - had to go on CA Sch. S.

        No Credit

Unfortunately, AZ does not give a credit for taxes paid to CA. It does to many other states, but CA is not one of them.

As it turns out, you have to go to the CA return and claim the credit for AZ. It seems bass-ackwards to me but it works.

            Sorry Sandy

Gary is right and I totally forgot that AZ doesn't allow tax credits for CA. Sorry about the wild goose chase.

Not a problem, at least it got me pointed in the right direction. As always, I'm grateful for the assistance.
