    Quick Answer Needed

Client I did for several years until they closed the business and moved has phoned to ask me to fax depreciation schedule to a certain number. I have verified that the software I used does not include that in client copy. Will deal with that later but I think I have to have a signature before I can fax even a depreciation schedule. Am I right? Ia a faxed signature ok?

Faxed sig OK, but is the "certain number" your former client's fax, or a third party's fax?

If it is his fax number you should be fine. If it is someone else' you need written consent. Since fax signature is fine on form 8879 I don't see any reasons why it would not be the same for the consent.

        Fas Nunber

He didn't say whose number it was but I think it is the number of his son the tax professional. I also think he would tell me it was his number if he knew that would save him the trouble of faxing me a signature. That means that I have to watch what I tell him.

Just white out his name and social and fax it if you are sure it was him that called. Go on with life!
