    Relaxin'

Borrowed a trick from the kids; got myself a set of headphones and a CD (but not their noisy music -- I got a soundtrack from Amazon --"Legends of the Fall"-- really great relaxing violin, etc. music), a bottle of good wine, it's one A.M., taxes are done for the day/night/whatever, and I'm kicked back, slowly unwinding. Nice!

That government mailing about the "Economic Stimulus Act" sure has stimulated my business for the last couple of days -- we've been swamped with those things. Although most have already filed for it, they now get this package and want to know "Why is the IRS after me?"

What are y'all going to do after the 15th? I've been thinkin' about that for a few days now and feel like I ought to treat myself to something or somewhere, but don't know exactly what.

Mellowed-out BART wishing my fellow tax preparers well (this is really good wine).

    Well

I would think this post would be posted on the15th of April, not on crunch (stress) time at March 27th or March 28th.

I have no time for "relaxin" right now, and will be lucky if I can get all of my client's work done by April 15th. It is one issue after another and a long ways to go!

    Glad you found some time!

    Sandy

      Well, I

don't really have the time, I just made the time. After all, nobody can walk in right now (like they do in the daytime) and say "Why aren't you working? Nothing to do?"

P.S. How are you likin' Carolina, girl?

        Darn Bart,

        You started without me, again.

I thought you were going to get a second bottle of the "grape", as you put it, and we'd do this on the 16th?? Now I'm confused and appalled!

          Wishin

I wish I could make the time right now, but I am buried in California Client paperwork, so that is good for me after the move.

We are "lovin" North Carolina, spring seems to have sprung, and I am having a real hard time sitting in my new office glued to the computer!

But I gotta do what I gotta do to keep all of my "loyal" clients happy so I still have a viable tax practice for 2009.

So while I am "watchin" the Board, I am "workin" away! At least it is quiet this time of night.

              Dennis,

I apologize for startin' without you, my friend, but I was just sippin' on this stuff and it's been so long since I've done that, that I'm a little bit "in my cups"/ three sheets in the wind/
or soused you might say. Anyway, how are you (?) and it's nice to hear from you.

I just counted and I've got 33 cases on the floor, so I guess I ought to do like Sandy and get crackin', but I'm afraid I'm too far gone tonight.

Do you and Sandy still keep in touch since she moved? How's your practice going?

              Regards-B

                You are pulling our leg

                Cmon Bart,

You are pulling our leg, and your are not "3 sheets to wind" or "soused", just maybe a little "tipsy".

33 files on the floor, I am counting at least that, and more come in than what I am able to get out of here, which is driving me crazy! Guess I am going to have to pull some almost "all nighters" to get them done!

Dennis will reply as well, I am sure, but since I am here first, we talk most all the time, at least once a week if not more Dennis gets to reply on his practice!

Okay Bart, you will have to be in charge of the schedule for the late April 15th or April 16th party, so we can all join , and celebrate the close of this "Tax Season"!

                    Up and working!

                    Sandy,

I just started an LLC return for a meeting tomorrow. I want some preliminary info for the client.

                    Bart,

I'm doing fine, just a little too busy right now, but hope this weekend, I'll make a dent in my stacks and maybe a little less pressure.

Sandy and I try to call one another several times a week, just to vent and get stuff off our backs. We always manage to solve all the world's problems, so it's very productive! More important, it's just nice to have a friend on the other end of the phone.

                    Dennis

                      Someone else is still up?

I am surprised that someone else is as crazy as me. My husband just stuck his head out the bedroom door and asked me what I was doing? He wanted to know if I wasn't sleepy.

Well, I slept good the last couple of nights and I have clients wanting to pick up returns that I haven't even started so I figured I better pull an all-nighter and get caught up. My kids want me to go to Cypress Gardens on Monday since my granddaughter is out of school for the week. So if I am going to do that, I'll have to make up the time somewhere.

                      Who needs sleep?

Glad you like North Carolina, Sandy. What part of the state are you in?

                      Hi Dennis

I am still up but getting ready to go to bed. Just turned off logmein and closing up the files. Don't feel like I got much done. Did a some reading on things I need to know for a meeting tomorrow. I just look at my deskssss and hang my head I've got about 50 files to work on. One day at a time.

Now I don't feel so bad

I have about 20 that I am working on....all in different stages. You know, just need one thing for this one and one more for that one and a LOT more for that one.

I would like to get them finished up. At least tonight I am getting them in the computer and know what I still need to finish them up.

                            The Wee Hours

                            Hi Linda,
Glad you joined the conversation , I can't believe the time you take off, I am lucky if I can get to the grocery store or more importantly my hair cut every 6 weeks.

Glad to see I am not the only one, that can't sleep or has to pull all nighters, sometimes, you just got to get it done, and yes the "husbands" don't always understand. But I figure better awake at the computer, than awake and tossing and turning in bed, maybe it is just a "female" thing!

I always thought California was great, but then after discovering North Carolina we are in "heaven". Words can not describe!. We are about 35 miles SE of Raleigh-Durham Airport, inland from the Coast about 100-125 miles. A little town/suburb, but really we have everything close by and can run into Raleigh or Wake Forest with not much effort.

Interesting, that one of my Calif clients moved to Cary NC 10/06 and came out this week, took her about 30 minutes and she was amazed, as she didn't know the area existed, but she also is learning her way around. I was fortunate, I have 2 built in clients in NC, as 2 of my Calif moved here before I relocated, and then my first official NC client, was my postal delivery person. How exiciting is that? Now we will work on the client base in NC from there.

In the meantime, my other life is still in California, and I am blessed with the "loyal" clients that I have over the years, so has been a lot of faxing, mailing and email/scans.

                            Sandy

Ever heard of Chinquapin? It is a very LITTLE place down closer to Wilmington. I think it is about a hour north of Wilmington.

You are in a very pretty area of North Carolina.

I have had so many referrals from clients this year. It has been great. You will start getting referrals too.
A man from the city was changing my water meter yesterday and I went out and gave him my business card. He said he would be back. He has 3 years to file.
So you just keep giving your cards to people and you will do fine.
