    Telephone tax rebate

It was posted, in one of the threads and I can't remember which one, that there was not to be any more payments of the telephone tax rebate after 12/31/2008. This would preclude anyone that ordinarily does not have to file, from now filing a 2006 return to claim the rebate.

Can anyone point me toward a definitive answer to this question?

    Thanks to all.

Only in government or politics is a "cut in spending" really an increase. It's just not as much of an increase as they wanted it to be, therefore a "cut".

    Correction to previous post

I meant to say after 12/31/2007.

I don't think that this is true. This link says that you can file an amended return to take the credit if you didn't previously. Also, the instructions state that if you took the standard and wanted to take the detailed later, you would have to file an amended return. However, you can only take the credit on the 2006 return, amended or late filng. This link is from January 2008.

Thanks for the link. This is a freebie for one of my wife's friends. I just printed off the link page and told her to take it to her friend.
