E-filed return and forgot to enter DD info

Is there anything I can do to change a return where I e-filed it but forgot to enter the client's direct deposit bank information (it was submitted as mail refund)? Client wanted to speed up their receipt of the Econ. Stimulus Rebate, that is the only reason why they wanted to do D.D. I just submitted it at around 8 p.m. this evening (Tues.). Can I change it somehow?

    Stop

Contact your software efile, and see if they can stop the submission.
My software lets me delete or remove for a short period of time before they transmit to Fed and State.

        My Software

I use TaxWorks, it will let me delete after I send, and if it has not gone to the filing center. There is usually a delay.

Proseries help center isn't open at night....

Am I out of luck? I'm bummed I spaced it out. I had the sticky note sitting right on my desk too.

            thanks for the info. Sandy.

I couldn't see anywhere that it would let me delete. Bummer.

Maybe the efile help desk in your area?

I think your out of luck. I have Proseries, and although it was a few years ago so it might have changed, I wanted to stop transmission and called just minutes after transmitting and was told once you hit that button they can do nothing to stop it.

W/ ever advancing technology it may have changed or it could have been like calling the IRS - depending on who you talk to you might get a different answer?

                  Jesse...

thanks for your reply. It's too late now, the return's were already accepted by the time the ProSeries support line opened this morning. It's not the end of the world, I just feel bad that I made the mistake.

Client was going to do refund by mail until I told him about the stimulus rebate schedule. Once he realized he'd have to wait an additional 90 days for his stimulus check IF he goes with snail mail rather than DD for his '07 refund, he changed his mind and asked me to do DD. After he left, I transmitted his return, but forgot to enter in his bank info. for DD. I'll call him today and tell him about my mistake. Hopefully I'll get the answering machine and I can leave a nice big fat "I'm sorry" on it. (smile)

Better to have entered no info rather than wrong info as that takes forever to come back. I did that too a couple of years ago the routing number was incorrect! Have not done that again! Which brings up another issue, if incorrect numbers are entered, will the rebates still go to that same incorrect number and then be rejected or will this be caught from the original filing?

These rebates have been really hard on me this year. I do many low/moderate income returns and just feel like I'm being scolded constantly.

They rush the return thru because they want the EIC, now $300 not enough - want the full $600, and then didn't want to go direct deposit but by the schedule they will not get the refund until June/July and "everyone" else will recieve theirs in May. Somehow my fault as I should have warned them about something I did not know?

                      It's funny how people get.....

this time of year. One of my client's called me yesterday for whom I had filed their return 3 weeks ago. They didn't want to do direct deposit at that time (their '07 refund was minimal). But after the IRS released the official "stimulus rebate schedule" on Monday, suddenly they realized that since their last 2 digits are in the 80's, they'll have to wait until almost 2 months later to get their stimulus checks. NOW he wants me to go and change the information for him (magically?) in my computer, so that he can get his check sooner.

We're in the wrong no matter what we do. Gotta love it!
