    Energy tax credit

    Energy efficient Garage door and/or Stove purchased in 2007 qualify for energy credit?

    No on the stove. Need to read all the fine points on the garage door. Check the instructions for the form 5395

      Short answer = No

      The credit is for items that save energy to heat or cool. A garage door doesn't quality because a garage is not part of the residence's heated/cooled envelope. The stove doesn't quality, either. Items that do are insulation materials, and certain doors, windows, roofs, and certain heating and cooling systems, including water heaters. Ordinary appliances, such as stoves and refrigerators, aren't on the list of qualifying property.
