    Dependent question

Well, a gentleman came to you and said he divorced his ex-wife in 2007. So he is considered single for 2007 tax purpose. But he said his ex-wife still lived in his household even after the divorce. His ex-wife had no income in 2007. So he had supported his ex-wife for the whole year and his ex-wife is a member of his household for the whole year. He wants to claim his ex-wife as his dependent in 2007. Any problem? If it's ok to do it, what should be put on the relationship column?

    Not Enough Information

    What state?

If in Colorado even though they are divorced cohabitaion and appearance of marriage after divorce may create a common law marriage. It has happened!

    Relationship is other.

      other

I would put "other" under dependent since she is no longer a relative. His F/S would be "single" and not HOH since she is not a relative.

      Anybody else?

That is what I would do as well - Single and "other" dependent.
